More on Trauma

Trauma is very common as we are all vulnerable to experiencing various degrees of shock which is accompanied by feeling unsafe, powerless and overwhelmed; whether this happens in the context of a relationship or not, we all know to some degree what trauma feels like because it changes our physiology, and distortions in perception and cognition persist over time. We continue to have extreme reactions to specific triggers in the environment that remind us consciously or unconsciously of the 'traumatic event'. This reactions affect our functioning in daily life, and most importantly our relationship with loved ones. Some of these traumas are relational in nature, which disrupt our Attachment system, and ability to bond and connect with others in a healthy and meaningful way. In our work together around trauma I will use somatic based interventions, mindfulness, resourcing, and psychoeducation, to empower you on your journey toward healing and integration.
